First meeting in 2015

Please be invited to the first SPE meeting in 2015, which will be held on January 21st at Moltkes Palæ and is sponsored by Hess.
 
The main presentation will be given on 'Obtaining a high quality Ocean Bottom Seismic (OBS) survey on the South Arne Field', by Marianne Rosengreen and Erik Jakobsen of HESS.

The post-dinner presentation will be on 'Downhole Scale Mitigation Trial on South Arne Using High Frequency Electromagnetic AC Signals', by Anders Krag Norman of Hess.

SPE Young Professionals Meeting

The Young Professional Section of SPE will be holding an event on the 14th of January at 17:30 at a location in Copenhagen which will be announced closer to the date, with the main theme dedicated to career guidance.

 

The meeting, which will be held in a informal setting, will have Bill Ginty speaking about his career in the oil industry. Bill, a personally very outgoing petroleum engineer, held a variety of positions within the industry. Bill is a University of Texas graduate, starting his career as a roustabout with Marathon Oil in 1982, later on moving on to become a wireline engineer in Schlumberger in the Middle East, and eventually settling down in Denmark with various roles in Maersk, Hess and DONG. Throughout his career Bill has written and co-authored a number of SPE papers and is a long standing SPE Copenhagen Board member.

November Meeting at Maersk

The next SPE meeting will be held at Maersk on Wednesday November 19th.

Please note the change of date from the September Newsletter.

The pre-dinner presentation will be on the 'Maersk Drilling Service Delivery Model', by Kristian Coff-Petersen of Maersk Drilling.

The post-dinner presentation will be on Dan Bravo Rationalisation, by Jakob Knudsen of Maersk Oil.

Student Scholarship

The SPE Copenhagen Section Student Scholarship can be applied for once a year by students working with petroleum engineering or closely related topics. The total amount that can be applied for is 15,000 DKK. The scholarship can be applied for by filling in the application form, which can be downloaded from here. The application form should be returned to the secretary of the SPE Copenhagen Section:

The letter should be marked:

SPE Student Scholarship.

The application should be returned no later than 1st December 2014

October Meeting at Shell

The next SPE meeting will be held on Wednesday the 22nd of October and will take place at the Mikado House in Amager, and is sponsored by Shell.

Ben Ring, Shell VP Upstream for Denmark, and Shell Country Chairman for Denmark, Greenland and Iceland, will give a presentation titled "Safety in Operations - A leadership journey".

The dinner speaker, David Roberts, will talk about Process Safety in Wells.
